The Diplomas are an exciting new set of qualifications for 14 – 19 year olds that will help more young people make the most of their talents and potential, both in work and in higher education. They will increase the options for study that young people have by combining both theoretical and practical studies.

The Government has placed employers at the heart of Diploma Development. As a member of the Employer Steering Group, Logica is playing a key part in shaping the Diploma in the IT. Logica has also contributed this Level 2 exemplar case study for the IT Diploma.  We have based it on a case study of Galileo, which is a non-military European version of the US global positioning system (GPS) that will be ready for the use in a few years' time.  Links to videos and literature that support this case study are provided in the right hand margin.  We hope that you will enjoy it.

 Building a globally competitive IT services industry

Our involvement in the IT Diploma is part of a wider programme of activity that Logica and the CBI are leading.  We have brought together senior stakeholders across industry, academia, skills bodies and the Government to discuss the future of the IT services industry in the UK and to identify the actions required to maintain the sector's competitiveness.  The current status report for this programme is available from our website.  Our work on strategic secondments amongst business, government and academia to share ideas and assess professional capabilities may also be of interest.
