Education Security
Personal progress, achievements and problems are all sensitive matters that lie at the heart of educational institutions. It’s crucial that this data is secure and can only be accessed by properly authorised personnel.
Setting up, auditing and maintaining data security is a priority for all education bodies and many, including Ofsted and the Learning & Skills Council, turn to us to provide the service because we’re recognised as an international leader.
We employ more than 400 security professionals. As the research body Butler Group puts it, “The level of experience of security-related matters within Logica is deep and extensive, and this is reflected in the range of services available from its information security services practice.”
When we’re developing a system for you, we build in security as standard, using our secure architecture for enterprise methodology. We work to recognised standards, such as BS7799, the equivalent of ISO 17799 (we run the only UK Commercial Evaluation Facility, or CLEF, to meet it). We’ll undertake a gap analysis to see if your IT complies – and if it doesn’t, we’ll show you how to fix it. At the same time, we’ll develop and test business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
We’ll also help you meet ISO 15408 for your IT systems. We carry out formal evaluations at our CLEF, a government-approved testing resource. We wrote or evaluated 11 of the protection profiles on the UK Evaluation Scheme site and we’re accredited as a CLAS – a high level IT security provider – by CESG, the national technical authority for information assurance, an arm of GCHQ.
All of this helps to explain why we’ve carried out more than 60 per cent of UK government security evaluations and provide top-level security solutions for governments worldwide.
