Sophia Search and Embarcadero Technologies win the UK leg of Logica’s Global Innovation Partner programme
Logica, the business and technology service company today announced the two UK winners of the 2011 Global Innovation Venture Partner programme (GIVP). The programme identifies innovative businesses that have developed cutting edge products and services who will work with Logica to take their solutions to our clients. Sophia Search, which provides contextually aware enterprise search solutions and Embarcadero Technologies, which enable Windows desktop software to be turned into easily shareable mobile-like apps within the business environment are the 2011 winners.
Logica will work with both winners to help them realise the potential of their products and provide access to Logica’s client base. They will get access to Logica’s sales resources, go-to-market support and opportunities to engage with client organisations across all Logica markets.
Craig Boundy, CEO of Logica in the UK said, “Our plan was to find one UK winner of the Global Innovation Partner programme, however the quality of the entrants this year was so outstanding we ended up choosing two winners. Both Embarcadero Technologies and Sophia Search presented technologies and business models that we simply couldn’t say no to. Innovation is at the heart of Logica’s business and we believe by working with cutting edge organisations such as our winners we will be able to better meet the needs of our clients.”
Sophia Search and Embarcadero Technologies were chosen as winners following a search across the UK and presentations by the shortlisted companies to a Logica panel. The two UK winners have now moved into the global competition where they will compete with country winners from France, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Portugal and India.
Dr David Patterson, Founder and CEO of Sophia Technologies said, “Partnering with Logica gives Sophia as a young company the opportunity to take our technology to Logica's installed customer base. At the same time the Logica Sophia partnership gives those large organisations the advantages in data management and interrogation that Sophia can provide together with the commercial and technical security that comes from Logica.”
Nigel Brown, Vice President and General Manager International at Embarcadero said, "Embarcadero Technologies' innovation is highlighted with this prestigious award and our opportunity for business growth is enhanced by being in partnership with Logica UK."
About the winners:
Sophia Search
Sophia Search is an organisation that specialises in contextually aware enterprise search solutions. They help enable organizations to intelligently discover knowledge from unstructured content based on context. This enables organizations to seamlessly search, extract, de-duplicate and eliminate redundancy of content to minimize compliance risk and reduce the cost of storing and managing enterprise information. Sophia understands the different contextual meanings for a query and intelligently returns results organized in structured thematic folders. Sophia’s solution allows you to efficiently access relevant information without having to sift through long lists of noisy unfocused content, all ‘on-the-fly’ without taxonomies or ontologies.
Embarcadero Technologies
Embarcadero are a global organisation with their International headquarters in Maidenhead. Their entry to the GIVP was called AppWave. AppWave converts software into AppWave Apps that are broadcast so you can access them from wherever you are. Users do not need to worry about installing software and have one-click access to the applications that they need. AppWave boosts productivity by providing an immediate, mobile-like app experience for Windows desktop applications. With AppWave, you can quickly discover and run the apps you need, friction-free. AppWave broadcasts apps to save you time and money while saying goodbye to desktop installs, manual upgrade processes, PC “decay” and manual license tracking. Users get a mobile-like experience for Windows that enables teams to get the software they need, when they need it. This means more time being productive using apps, not obtaining them.
