Stamp down on your carbon footprint
We don’t just talk about global warming at Logica in the UK – we do something about it. We don’t go in for greenwash hype either – we act. In 2006, we launched an internal Stamp Down Our Carbon Footprint campaign. In 2009, our British carbon footprint was down by 23 per cent, making us a green leader in the IT and business services sectors.
The Challenge
When we began our campaign, Logica’s UK carbon footprint was 37,769 tons of CO2 equivalent. We believed we had an opportunity not only to cut our energy costs but also to reduce the demands we were making on the environment and encourage our staff to be more aware of climate change and its consequences. We called it our “Respect for the Environment Programme.”
Our approach
We organised green roadshows and experts from the Met Office and the UK’s Climate Impact
Programme – funded largely by the government – led web-based seminars on climate change.
Our employees around the world took part without ever having to go near an airport
