Business Transformation
There’s more to defence than sorting out your enemies. Defence ministries and departments are also very large, multi-billion pound (or euro, or dollar) businesses with all the processes, procedures and requirements of any other major organisation. They need all the financial, HR and procurement systems that are used by commercial multinationals, as well as specialist defence, security and medical systems.
Business transformation and change management processes can add significantly to speed and efficiency, which is why we’ve been called in to deliver parts of the UK Ministry of Defence’s change programme. Our established defence credentials and more than four decades of experience in delivering business change programmes may have been a factor too.
Among other programmes, we’re playing our part in:
- Atlas – the consortium for the Defence Information Infrastructure (Future) project. This is largest IT programme in Europe and the largest defence programme of its type in the world. Atlas is using our leading capabilities in information security, applications migration and training for both design and delivery.
- Cerberus – named after the three-headed hound who guarded the gates of Hades, this Defence Vetting Agency programme checks all MoD personnel and ensures that only the right people can see or handle defence information.
- The Defence Medical Information Capability Programme – providing the Defence Medical Service (DMS) with an information service that crosses primary, secondary and dental health care boundaries. It’s applicable to peacetime and military operations and makes it easier for the DCM to exchange information with NHS counterparts.
- James 1 – working with Lockheed Martin to deliver a joint-service engineering and asset management system that is an integral part of the Defence Logistic Programme. This series of efficiency changes runs across all defence logistics operations, from procurement, through acquisition to deployment or disposal.
