Transport

With the largest integrated transport smartcard organisation (ITSO) scheme in the world, Scotland knows a thing or two about the future of transport. So do we – as part of that scheme, which brings together multiple private sector operators and public sector organisations, we process millions of transactions every month from thousands of ticket machines.

It’s one highlight of our dedicated intelligent transport systems practice, which focuses on road pricing, travel information, smart retailing, traffic management and a raft more emerging issues and opportunities.

Expertise must be practical, so we focus on aspects of transport such as:

  • Reducing congestion
  • Maximising yield/ticketing
  • Delivering improved travel information
  • Improving passenger safety and security
  • Minimising the environmental impact of transport
  • Improving business efficiency and workforce productivity

These approaches apply across the transport industry – but we have specific solutions for all the modes of transport too.

In rail and public transport, we support concessionary travel schemes, improve passenger’s journeys with real-time travel information and journey-planning and maximise operators’ revenue in public and rail transport through smart retailing.

On the highways, we’re helping to reduce congestion with intelligent transport systems, next-generation road pricing schemes, incident management solutions and dynamic traffic management, including enforcement.

In aviation, we work with airlines, airport operators and civil aviation authorities to deliver the tightest security – our initiatives include biometric border control and air traffic control systems.

Port, maritime and shipping  operations benefit from services ranging from vessel management to enterprise resource planning that improve the efficiency of both port and shipping companies.

Freight and logistics  underpin all the modes of transport. We work with these organisations on business change, business intelligence, supply chain management, RFID tagging and mobile technologies.
